Becoming a vegan isn’t an easy thing to do, especially if one has grown up eating meat all their lives. However, these celebrities have taken the plunge and made the drastic change to exclude animal products from their diets. Several of these stars have found that maintaining a vegan diet has helped their overall health and wellness. So, why not introduce this plant-based diet to their kids?
10 Ellen Pompeo
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo decided to go completely vegan after a visit to her doctor’s office. Since then, she has changed her entire diet and has had her husband and her kids adopt a vegan diet.
The actress admitted that having the entire family live on a vegan diet is “super fun.” Adding, “It’s not tricky at all – it’s actually easier because meat you have to cook it before it goes bad. Grains and lentils and rice and beans, everything’s in the pantry already.”
9 Jenna Dewan
Jenna Dewan has been a vegan since she was 10-years-old, so adopting a vegan lifestyle for her kids came naturally. In an interview with Natural Health, the dancer shared, “I think my daughter must eat her weight in hummus.”
While Dewan does believe in a vegan diet, she admitted that she won’t force her daughter, Everly, who she shares with ex-husband Channing Tatum, to only live off a plant-based diet, stating, “But when Everly gets older, I think we should allow her to be her own person.”

Actress Alicia Silverstone is a huge believer in adopting a vegan diet and has even written a cookbook, titled, The Kind Diet, for parents who want to raise their children as vegans.
Silverstone has been raising her son, Bear Blu, as a vegan, sharing, “Bear was grown on vegan food and we’ll continue nourishing him with a healthy diet. He’ll be eating an organic plant-based diet.”

Like Alicia Silverstone, The Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik is a proud vegan who wrote a cookbook, titled, Mayim’s Vegan Table, which shares vegan recipes for people who are trying to adopt the lifestyle.
Bialik admits she gets asked a lot of questions about raising her kids to eat vegan and how they can get enough protein. “Children can thrive without eating meat and without eating dairy. The only thing that vegans can’t get from the foods that we eat is B12,” she shared, adding that her children get their protein from sources like quinoa and bread.
6 Emily Deschanel
Bones actress Emily Deschanel is a proud vegan who is raising her children to have the same eating lifestyle as she has. In an interview with GardenOfLife.com, the actress shared, “I think it’s a great way to feed your babies. Henry loves veggies, and he’s totally into it.”
Deschanel even admitted that her son, Henry, has been referred to as the “vegan police” because he chose to go vegan on his own, with the help of his famous mom. Adding, “He won’t even eat candy because it’s not healthy.”

Jennifer Lopez is known for her killer physique and thanks her newly adopted vegan diet for giving her loads of energy. She shared, “I love that I’m eating more greens. It makes you feel so much better.”
The songstress is even teaching her twins, Emme and Max to eat more vegan dishes, however, she shared that her son is having a little difficulty changing his diet. “Sometimes he says, ‘I don’t like vegan cheese. I want American cheese!'”

Natalie Portman is raising her children on a vegan diet and believes it’s the right choice for her kids and their overall health. “People don’t feel like they’re sacrificing anything,” she told Vanity Fair, adding, “They can still have delicious food and not be harming the planet.”
The actress has been a vegetarian since she was 9-years-old, so transitioning into a vegan was a lot smoother for the star.
3 Carrie Underwood
American Idol alum Carrie Underwood has been a vegetarian for a long time, but she has begun to follow a vegan diet. According to Women’s Health, the songstress raises her own chickens, so she’ll occasionally eat eggs, sharing, “I just love knowing where things come from.”
Underwood shared that her kids are also adopting her eating habits, making them stir-fry, vegan quesadillas, and eating veggies sandwiches from Subway.
Madonna follows a strict vegan macrobiotic diet which consists of cold-pressed juices, vegetables, and whole grains, according to PopSugar. It’s also known that when her children are spending time with her ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, he is given a strict list of foods that the children are only allowed to eat, which includes keeping their diets vegetarian, macrobiotic, and organic.

Kim Kardashian West recently converted into a vegan and is sharing her diet plan with her four children. According to Live Kindly, the reality star ditched meat and is eating plant-based foods to help reduce her battle with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
She now has her children, Psalm, Chicago, and Saint, eating a vegan-based diet, except for her older daughter North, who still enjoys eating fish.
