As someone who eats hot sauce on almost everything, I can say I know a thing or two about it. As such, I know that not every sauce is equal and different meals require a different sauce to pair with it. Apparently, though, the majority of the United States is in agreement about one particular hot sauce brand. The standout hot sauce star that I am referring to is none other than Cholula hot sauce!
Serving as the preference in 40 (FORTY!) of the states including New York, Florida, Hawaii, and Alaska, the sauce was far and away the most popular, raking in over 15,000 searches per month. So what are the most popular brands in the other states, you ask? I got you!
According to the state-by-state graph, Texas preferred the super spicy El Yucateco hot sauce above anything else, while California opts for Frank’s RedHot. Southern states Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi all top their meals with Crystal hot sauce and Arkansas, New Mexico, and Indiana reach for The Rapture when it’s time to heat things up. And what about Oregon, you ask? Well, they—like Texas and California—are alone in their own world with El Chilerito Chamoy being top tier there.
