2020 hasn’t been easy for everyone. For those who might need an extra hand this Thanksgiving, some organizations have planned food giveaways.
Here’s a list of food distribution events across the Space Coast.
Chabad of the Space & Treasure Coasts is offering free pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and homemade challah for Shabbat. Limited free whole kosher turkeys are also available. Orders must be placed online before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24. Curbside pickup is at Chabad Viera, 7350 Lake Andrew Drive, Tuesday between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Visit jewishbrevard.com.
The Central Florida Mommy’s Club will host a free community Thanksgiving Eve meal to-go. The drive-through-style meals will be served at Victory in Christ Jesus Ministries, 2865 Jupiter Blvd. SE, Palm Bay on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Face masks are required. Pebbles Catering & Event Design is hosting two free community Thanksgiving events. The first will be on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at 2637 S. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne. The second will be on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. at 1046 Dixon Blvd., Cocoa. Visit facebook.com/pebblescateringandeventdesign.
My Island Pancake House, 165 Barton Blvd., Rockledge, will give away 600 Thanksgiving meals starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26. The meals will include sliced turkey and gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables. There is a limit of four meals per vehicle. Visit facebook.com/Merritt-Island-Pancake-House-137358996877013.
The Salvation Army, 1080 Hickory Street, Melbourne, will host its annual Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26. Instead of a community gathering this year, the event will be drive-through style in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines. To-go meals will consist of turkey with all the trimmings. Bridges of Florida Ministries will serve a full Thanksgiving meal outdoors at Mosaic Palm Bay, 2100 Port Malabar Road, Thursday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. Bridges is a ministry to the homeless, but the free meal is open to anyone in the community who wants to share a meal with others.
