Kamala Harris is the vice-president-elect. She’s broken many barriers to be in this position, including being the first Indian-American and first Black woman to be selected by a major party for Vice President. Recently, she spoke about her favorite Indian foods on social media.
In a Twitter post, Harris answered questions on everything from mental health to cooking to her favorite Indian dishes. Asked about her favorite Indian food, she said: “So South Indian, it would be idli with… a really good sambar, and then North Indian – probably any kind of tikka.”
It’s amazing to see most of her favorite foods are vegetarian and vegan dishes! Here are some of Kamala’s favorites recipes for you:
She also mentioned long walks with her grandfather in what is now Chennai. See the video, below:

When she was asked what advice she would give to women, Harris said, “You never have to ask anyone’s permission to lead. I have in my career been told many times, ‘It’s not your time’, ‘It’s not your turn’. Let me just tell you, I eat ‘no’ for breakfast. So, I would recommend the same. It’s a hearty breakfast.”
The Biden-Harris transition team is now hard at work to get ready for the upcoming administration. Biden also recently announced plans to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, is planning to implement 10 major climate-related executive actions, and to rejoin the World Health Organization. He and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris have also made a coronavirus advisory team.
