Rebel Wilson has been very candid on social media about the changes she’s made recently, dubbing it her “year of health.” These changes include a healthier diet and enjoying getting her body moving more frequently. But she recently opened up to PEOPLE about the specific changes she’s made, including upping her protein and keeping a balance in her diet.
The Pitch Perfect star told the magazine that before she decided to tackle her diet, she was frequently eating about 3,000 calories a day, largely in carbs, which would leave her hungry. One of the biggest changes she’s made, she says, is focusing on protein, which keeps her fuller and it’s helped her to lose about 40 pounds.

“So, I’ve really changed to eating a high-protein diet, which is challenging because I didn’t used to eat a lot of meat,” she said. “I eat fish, salmon, and chicken breast.”
But that doesn’t mean she’s being restrictive; she noted not every week can be a “healthy” one and that she’s simply doing the best she can to make healthier choices while still enjoying plenty of her favorite foods.
“I’m just trying to go for overall balance, overall healthy balance,” she told the publication. “I have this state of being, which is not my quote, but I go ‘Nothing is forbidden.’ We’ll be like, ‘Should we get In-N-Out burger?’ And I’m like, ‘Nothing is forbidden.'”
Honestly, no diet is worth doing if you cannot enjoy a burger and fries once in a while, so rock on with your bad self, Rebel!
