    Burial expands, Cold Mountain, ice cream Yule logs

    Celebrate the season and traditions with pints of beer and ice cream. A South Slope brewery is bringing something new to the city to add more variety to tasting room guests. Burial Beer’s Collier Avenue expansion will include a rooftop wine bar and spacious restrooms. Highland Brewing Co. is revamping an old recipe and serving several new variations of its classic Cold Mountain beer. Raise a glass or a bottle to Asheville’s pioneer brewery during its silver anniversary year. Another decades-long tradition returns to Asheville. Ice cream Yule logs ordering begins at The Hop Ice Cream Café on Nov. 15.

    Vegan Raspberry Brownie Ice Cream Bars | Kitchen Vignettes for PBS

    I often get requests for recipes that are less reliant on butter & eggs, and that are gluten-free, so I wanted to come up with a fun plant-based recipe that would be refreshing for these sweltering heat waves we’ve been having, and also gluten-free. (And not require an ice cream maker since I don’t have one!) On hot days, I find myself reflecting more than ever on the connection between what we put on our plates and the climate crisis we find ourselves in. Openings, closings, and coming attractions The Nash has opened in downtown. Located in The Star apartment building (1111 Rusk St.), the restaurant is described as a “love letter” to American cuisine with a menu created by chef Omar Pereney of A La Carte Consulting Group. State University has developed a line of toppings for your favorite bowl of Howling Cow or any other ice cream. Scooping Howling Cow was the club’s flagship fundraiser each year, says Katharine Clark, the club’s vice president. “We realized it was likely in May that the fair would not happen.     Wisconsin cream sales soar; milk fat dairy gains popularity

    To see how popular cream, like all full-fat dairy, has become with consumers, just look to surging sales. That’s thanks in part to redeeming reports of full-fat dairy in a healthful diet combined with all the cooking and baking we’re doing during the pandemic. As of mid-July, cream sales by volume in the United States have jumped 23{c33c21346ff5e26ab8e0ae3d29ae4367143f0d27c235e34c392ea37decdb8bed} over the same period in 2019, to nearly 37 million pints, according to Lizzie Duffey of the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.
