USDA public health warning over chicken soup

USDA’s  Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert due to misbranding. The chicken soup product contains and declares wheat as an ingredient but has an incorrect statement of “gluten-free” on the top label. FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers with allergic reactions to gluten are aware that these products should not be consumed. A recall was not requested because the affected products were produced and distributed among retail locations within the same corporate entity and sold directly to consumers.  It is believed that these products are no longer available to   Read More

Best Greek Lemon Chicken Soup Recipe

Mike Garten Greek lemon chicken soup is loaded with bright and bold flavors that make it every bit as delicious as it is good for you. This light and healthy recipe is similar to a classic chicken and rice soup, with celery, onion and of course chicken, but includes some unexpected ingredients like fresh dill and leeks. Plus, whisked eggs and lemon juice, tempered with a little hot broth to prevent scrambling, add ultra-velvety texture to the soup without using any cream. That’s right — this recipe is completely dairy-free while still tasting 100{c33c21346ff5e26ab8e0ae3d29ae4367143f0d27c235e34c392ea37decdb8bed} cozy. It’s easy comfort food that’s   Read More

For Olga Massov, that looks like a fragrant, restorative chicken-and-rice soup; G. Daniela Galarza shared a version of Italian wedding soup; and I developed a recipe for an easy farro-and-kale soup with peanut butter and a hint of spice. Each brings all of the warmth, comfort and flavor you might desire this time of year without leaving you feeling weighed down and ready for a nap immediately after eating. So if you are looking for a recipe or three to help kick things off on the right foot, soup’s on. Restorative Chicken and Rice Soup As a Russian immigrant, I   Read More

This loaded baked potato soup recipe is finished with crispy bacon and melty cheese

When the temperature dips and I cannot seem to warm my toes, the one thing that usually takes the chill off is a bowl of hot soup. If there is no gumbo tucked away in the freezer that I can thaw, I’m apt to slurp a bowl of wonton soup or a dig into some variation of chicken soup with rice or noodles. Or, if I’m making it myself on a weeknight, I’ll conjure potato soup, because it is so easy and luscious. A loaded baked potato soup is one of my favorites. This one-pot version, which I adapted from   Read More

Nigel Slater’s recipes for festive leftovers: soup and panettone custard | Food

This is the fridge’s finest hour. A bowl of cranberry sauce full to the brim; shards of cold roast goose, turkey perhaps; some cold roast potatoes, craggy and golden, and, joy of joys, a saucer of cold pigs-in-blankets. There is bread sauce in a gravy boat, a piece of cold salmon, brandy butter and even a jug of Marsala-laced gravy. Treats beyond measure. There is nothing, simply nothing, I like doing in the kitchen more than picking at leftovers. Those bowls with saucers for lids, keeping the buried treasure safe until we are ready to eat.
